Corozal District
Corozal is the northernmost District of Belize, just south of the Rio Hondo (Hondo River), was a hub of early Mayan trade. The district capital is Corozal Town. Orange Walk District
The capital of the district is Orange Walk Town, locally known as “Sugar City” (pronounced shuga city). The district is home to mostly Maya mestizo people, Creole people, and Maya Ketchi people. Due to the Spanish influence in the area, Spanish and Creole are the most common spoken language. Orange Walk’s main economic base is drawn from agriculture, with sugar cane being the primary crop. This is slowly being replaced by a combination of alternative crops such potatoes, onions and soya beans. Belize City is the capital of Belize District and the nation’s largest city.
